Fluid mechanics

Fluid mechanics is one of the main working fields of IBK.
Our competences include the classical applications in aeronautics (aerodynamics of wings and components, propeller and engine aerodynamics) as well as automotive applications (aerodynamics of cars), plant engineering (pumps, turbines, ventilators) and complex processes (like flow through porous media, casting processes). Apart from this, IBK has successfully worked on coupled problems in the past, among which were Fluid-Structure-Interaction, Thermo-Mechanics and  Thermo-Ffluid-Mechanics.
In all these areas of fluid-mechanics IBK offers, beside pure calculations, optimization of flow (like laminar-flow, reduction of turbulence by geometry shaping). Especially the area of laminar-flow control was developed by IBK, enhanced in EU-projects (see SUPERTRAC, HISAC) and technologically secured by patents. 
Among these pure engineering works IBK offers consulting and survey for specific problems in the field of fluid mechanics.
