FLIRET - FLIght REynolds number Testing

(2005 - 2008)

FLIRET dealt with aerodynamic Measurement technique and aimed at improving the quality of measurements especially in cryogenic wind tunnels, reducing the costs and improving the overall  competitiveness of European wind tunnels. Therefor extensive wind tunnel experiments were carried out that aimed, among others, at describing dynamic effects and at removing disturbing effects from the model mounting. Partners from all over Europe were involved, like Airbus (D, F, UK), Dassault, DLR, Onera, ETW, TUB.

Contributions from IBK in this project:

  • Numerical description (CFD-RANS) of the effects of the blade sting during wind-tunnel-tests
  • Development of procedure to correct wind-tunnel test results from the blade-sting-effects
  • Analyses of dynamical properties of a numerical wind-tunnel-test-model of an aircraft
  • Analyses of the dynamic response of the numerical model under wind-tunnel-test conditions
