SUPERTRAC - SUPERsonic TRAnsition Control

(2005 - 2008)

The aim of SUPERTRAC was to perform fundamental, numerical and experimental investigations in the field of laminar flow control  of supersonic civil aircrafts. Different methods (shape optimization, suction, micro-size roughness, anti-contamination devices) which are capable of delaying the transition were investigated and developed. Partners in this project were ONERA, Airbus, DLR, DASSAULT, CIRA, FOI, IST, KTH and IBK. More information regarding SUPERTRAC can be found on the EU-Project-page.

IBK contributed in different part of the project:

  • Supertrac_CpExecution of CFD-calculations (EULER/ RANS) to deliver reference data and basis data for stability-research
  • Development of an ACD (Anti-Contamination Device) to decrease flow contamination along the attachment line
  • Nnumerical and experimental validation of ACDs
  • Implementation of the ACD in the laminar-wing
